Remembering Who I Am, Even When Everything Feels Uncertain

Preview

There are moments in life where everything feels like it's falling apart. The ground beneath you shifts. The people you thought you could count on don't feel safe. The roles you've played — daughter, sister, friend, caretaker — no longer feel like home.

I recently found myself in one of those moments.
What began as a visit to the family farm — a place that once held the scent of comfort and memory — ended with me walking into a domestic dispute that cracked open old wounds and rewrote everything I thought I knew.

Suddenly, I felt like I had no family.
Suddenly, I felt unsafe.
Suddenly, I was questioning everything — including myself.

All of my hard work in studying, self development, networking, years spent helping on the family farm suddenly felt like a spiral downward.

When Certainty Crumbles

It’s hard to put into words what it feels like when your nervous system is on high alert, but your heart is craving calm.
You want to run.
You want to fix it.
You want to be held.
But all you feel is confusion, isolation, and grief.

In these moments, I remind myself — gently, over and over again — that identity isn't found in the chaos around me.
It’s something I return to within.

The Heart Knows the Way Home

In yogic philosophy, the heart chakra — Anahata — is the seat of love, compassion, and deep inner knowing. It’s the bridge between the physical and the spiritual, the seen and the felt.

So when I felt lost, I turned inward. I placed a hand on my chest.
I took a deep breath.
And I repeated:

I am love. I am safe. I am whole.
I am not the chaos. I am not the wound. I am the healing.
I am the calm within the storm.

Each breath was a return. Each mantra, a thread stitching me back together.

Who I Am (And Who I’m Not)

I am not the roles I’ve outgrown.
I am not the expectations others place on me.
I am not responsible for holding together what is meant to fall apart.

I am love.
I am softness and strength.
I am a heart that still hopes.
I am a soul that knows how to rise.

Even when the world around me is uncertain —
I can remember who I am.

If You’re Here Too...

If you’re navigating your own moment of uncertainty, please know you’re not alone. Whether it’s family dynamics, life transitions, or a quiet ache you can’t name — you don’t have to have it all figured out.

You just have to come back to your breath.
To your body.
To your truth.

And whisper:

I remember who I am.
I am love. I am light. I am becoming.

From My Heart to Yours

This isn’t the end of the story — just a chapter. One that reminds me that peace isn’t something we find “out there,” but something we build inward, brick by breath.

I’m still healing.
Still unlearning.
Still growing.
But I know this much is true:
Even when everything else is uncertain, the love I hold for myself will always bring me home.
