What are chakras?
Chakras are energy centres within the body. The term “Chakra” originates from Sanskrit, meaning “wheel” or “circle”. They are our “wheels of life”, just as the roots of the tree are its foundation of life - your chakras can create a framework for your wellbeing.
These energy centres, surprisingly, relate to the bodies physiology, in particular, the endocrine system which regulates hormones. These energy centres are believed to be located along the spine, from the base to the crown of the head. The belief is that these chakras need to be balanced to maintain physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
