FAQs

  • Yoga is a centuries-old practice originating in ancient India that encompasses physical postures, breath control, meditation, and philosophical principles. It aims to promote harmony between the body, mind, and spirit, fostering physical strength, flexibility, and mental clarity. Through the integration of movement, breath, and mindfulness, yoga offers a holistic approach to wellness, helping individuals cultivate inner peace, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.

  • Opt for comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Yoga leggings or shorts paired with a moisture-wicking top are ideal. Avoid clothing that restricts movement or may become too revealing during poses. Most importantly, choose attire that makes you feel confident and ready to flow on the mat!

  • The 1-hour Introduction to Yoga for Beginners. This class explores a variety of yoga styles, including breath work, meditation and two styles of yoga to accommodate different needs. The two styles are Vinyasa and Yin yoga that promote strength, mobility and relaxation. Its a great taster to try yoga!

  • Yoga Nidra, often referred to as "yogic sleep," is a deeply relaxing and meditative practice that guides practitioners into a state of conscious deep sleep. Despite its name, Yoga Nidra is not about falling asleep; rather, it involves entering a state of profound relaxation while maintaining full awareness. During a Yoga Nidra session, practitioners typically lie down in a comfortable position and are guided through a series of systematic instructions designed to induce physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. These instructions may include body scanning, breath awareness, visualization, and guided imagery. Yoga Nidra is known for its therapeutic benefits, including stress reduction, improved sleep quality, enhanced self-awareness, and deep emotional healing. It is often practiced as a standalone meditation or incorporated into yoga classes, workshops, and wellness programs.

  • Beginner-level vinyasa classes also focus on foundational poses but may incorporate flowing sequences at a slower pace, allowing beginners to gradually build strength, flexibility, and familiarity with yoga flow. This continuous movement helps to build strength, flexibility, and endurance while cultivating mindfulness and presence on the mat.

Vinyasa classes often incorporate a variety of yoga poses, including standing, seated, balancing, and inverted postures, as well as backbends and twists. The sequence of poses can vary widely depending on the instructor's style and level of the class, making Vinyasa yoga accessible to practitioners of all levels, from beginners to advanced.

  • Yin yoga is a gentle and meditative style of yoga that focuses on long-held, passive poses targeting the deep connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments, tendons, and fascia. Unlike more dynamic styles of yoga that emphasize muscular engagement and movement, yin yoga poses are typically performed seated or lying down and are held for extended periods, typically ranging from 3 to 5 minutes or even longer.

Yin yoga also cultivates a meditative mindset, as practitioners are encouraged to observe physical sensations, thoughts, and emotions that arise during the practice. By cultivating mindfulness and presence on the mat, yin yoga offers an opportunity for deep relaxation, stress reduction, and inner exploration.

Due to its gentle nature and focus on stillness, yin yoga is suitable for practitioners of all levels, including beginners and those with limited mobility or physical limitations. It can be practiced as a standalone session or complement other more dynamic forms of yoga or exercise.

  • During a restorative yoga practice, practitioners use props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks, and straps to support the body in various postures. These props help to facilitate a sense of comfort and ease, allowing the body to relax deeply and release tension.

The primary goal of restorative yoga is to activate the body's natural relaxation response, promoting deep rest and stress relief. By slowing down and surrendering into each pose, practitioners can access a state of profound relaxation, allowing the nervous system to rebalance and the mind to quieten.

Restorative yoga is particularly beneficial for those experiencing stress, fatigue, or anxiety, as well as individuals recovering from injury or illness. It can also be a valuable practice for anyone seeking to cultivate mindfulness, self-awareness, and a greater sense of inner peace.

  • Any style of yoga can challenge you. To keep it simple, physically - vinyasa yoga is known to challenge the breath and bodies muscular strength. In saying that, vinyasa yoga is equally about flexibility and withdrawing the senses, whilst other styles may be less challenging physically and they can have a greater emphasis on the emotional/spiritual, which may be challenging. It depends on the individual.

  • Balinese relaxation massage is a traditional massage therapy originating from Bali, Indonesia, known for its combination of gentle stretching, long strokes, and pressure-point techniques. This massage style is deeply relaxing and aims to soothe both the body and mind.

Balinese relaxation massage is designed to promote overall well-being, reduce stress, and alleviate muscle tension. It can be tailored to meet individual preferences and needs, making it suitable for a wide range of clients seeking relaxation and rejuvenation.

  • Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and holistic well-being. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: "rei," which means universal, and "ki," which means life energy or vital force. In a Reiki session, the practitioner channels this universal life energy through their hands to the recipient, promoting balance and harmony within the recipient's body, mind, and spirit.

During a Reiki session, the recipient typically lies fully clothed on a massage table while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the recipient's body, moving through a series of hand positions to channel Reiki energy to different areas of the body. The recipient may experience sensations of warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation during the session.

Reiki is based on the belief that disruptions or imbalances in the flow of life energy within the body can lead to physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments. By facilitating the flow of Reiki energy, Reiki practitioners aim to restore balance and promote healing on all levels.

Reiki is non-invasive and gentle, making it suitable for people of all ages and conditions. It is often used as a complementary therapy to support conventional medical treatment and promote overall wellness. Reiki sessions can vary in length, with some lasting as little as 30 minutes and others lasting up to an hour or more.
